With a focus towards delivering on the needs of the people who will utilize and interact with the space she is engaged with, Architect Sara Rickards’ approach to design is underpinned with a growth mindset.

“With architecture, you can’t ever know everything. There’s always room to grow, and to find a new and better way to do something that you’ve done before. It’s not a stagnant industry by any means and that’s what interests me; we’re constantly improving.”

With experience working in both the public and private sectors, including health care, justice, civic, and residential, Sara has encountered a variety of user groups and client types and takes pride in creating healthy spaces to meet the needs of occupants. To ensure a well-executed process, Sara takes the time to create a work plan, reviewing project goals with her team to keep everything on track.

“I’m detail oriented, organized, and motivated to make sure the project is making progress.”

Sara finds feasibility studies to be particularly engaging because of the opportunity to consider the high level, “big picture” of a project, and evaluating if an idea can become reality. Yet she does not lose sight of the fact that “design is in the details” and equally enjoys detailing and preparing construction documents.
