REACH Program Facility, St. Andrew's Church

$0.00

Project Description:

The REACH (Reading Enhances All Choices for Humans) program, founded by Lacey resident Barbara Clarkson, is dedicated to transforming lives through literacy education. To meet growing community needs, plans have been developed for a new, non-profit literacy education facility on the campus of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Lacey. The proposed facility is designed to support literacy and learning in a modern, inclusive, and energy-efficient environment.

The architectural layout includes two intersecting volumes with opposing shed roofs, incorporating clerestory and horizontal windows for ample natural light. This design reduces energy use and fosters a positive, well-lit atmosphere conducive to learning and personal growth. Flexible classrooms, workshop spaces, administrative offices, and essential student support services—including showers and laundry facilities—will ensure that students not only receive educational instruction but also have access to basic needs that support consistent attendance and success in school. Durable, low-maintenance materials will reduce long-term upkeep costs, while the welcoming and accessible main entrance will serve as a clear point of arrival for students, volunteers, and families. The building is purposefully designed to adapt to future educational models and will serve as a long-term asset for the Lacey community.
