Location: Pocatello, ID

Project Description:

The Pocatello Community Reentry Center (CRC) is envisioned as a dedicated transition facility for up to 100 minimum-custody men approaching the completion of their sentences. The CRC is purposefully designed to bridge the gap between incarceration and successful reintegration by reconnecting residents with their home communities and equipping them with the skills, resources, and support needed to lead productive, stable, and healthy lives following release.

The program emphasizes rehabilitation and reentry readiness through a comprehensive mix of educational and vocational training spaces, health and wellness services, and supportive programming. Dedicated areas for instruction and workforce development are intended to build job skills and improve long-term employability, while on-site health services support both physical and behavioral well-being. In addition, thoughtfully designed visiting spaces foster meaningful connections with family members, reinforcing positive support systems.

A particular emphasis of the facility is family reunification, with special consideration given to strengthening relationships between incarcerated individuals and their children. By creating welcoming, safe, and developmentally appropriate environments for family interaction, the CRC supports the maintenance and restoration of family bonds, which are widely recognized as a critical factor in reducing recidivism and promoting successful community reintegration.
