$0.00

Location: Hoquiam, WA

Square feet: 190,571

Project Description:

Hoquiam School District is engaging in district-wide planning and design services with KMB architects to address the urgent need to replace the aging facilities that are located in high-risk seismic and tsunami zones. KMB architects is developing plans for a single campus where all existing Hoquiam schools will be housed in one of two buildings: one for grades K-6 and another for grades 7-12. The school site will be elevated 8-10 feet to bring the entire campus outside of the inundation zone, ensuring the overall safety and security of students in the event of a natural disaster. The new campus is designed to honor Hoquiam’s rich history while ensuring its longevity in a harsh marine climate environment.

The high school and middle school will be housed in the same two-story building, and inside each will have access to their own gymnasium. There will be 4 shared areas for group or 1:1 instruction as well as 47 classrooms. The middle and high school will share a 500-person theater and social stairs as a space for students to gather.
