$0.00

Location: Hoquiam, WA

Square feet: 109,824

Project Description:

Hoquiam School District is engaging in district-wide planning and design services with KMB architects to address the urgent need to replace the aging facilities that are located in high-risk seismic and tsunami zones. KMB architects is developing plans for a single campus where all existing Hoquiam schools will be housed in one of two buildings: one for grades K-6 and another for grades 7-12. The school site will be elevated 8-10 feet to bring the entire campus outside of the inundation zone, ensuring the overall safety and security of students in the event of a natural disaster. The new campus is designed to honor Hoquiam’s rich history while ensuring its longevity in a harsh marine climate environment.

The new three-story elementary school will feature 5 shared areas for group instruction, 1 gymnasium, and 45 classrooms. Additionally, there will be an early learning center / daycare with a separate entrance from the rest of the grades. Children of all ages will be able to enjoy designated play areas specific to their grade level.
