“When designing, I’ve learned you don’t have to be constrained by what’s already there. You can imagine a totally different use or a totally different symbolic space. You’re only limited by how far you want to look and how hard you can push.”

Meet the Team | Michelle

Michelle found her way to architecture first through marketing and writing about the built environment. While diving into urban studies and city development to generate media and promotional material, she was drawn to the collaborative nature of the construction process and became interested in design as a career. Beyond commenting on the work, she felt compelled to have a hand in the work itself.

Artistic, intuitive, and an expert communicator, Michelle brings an extremely well-rounded skill set to KMB architects. Able to balance both form and function when developing a design, Michelle looks to absorb the essence and the culture of her surroundings in order to crystallize the priorities of a project. Equally comfortable sketching out big picture concepts as she is diving into the granular details of project management, Michelle does whatever is necessary to meet and then exceed client expectations.

“What interests me most is whatever I’m currently working on. Each project is unique and fascinates me in its own way.”

Looking to serve the local community through design, Michelle has seamlessly integrated into the culture at KMB architects thanks to her dedication to teamwork and to putting clients’ needs first. Her valuable contributions result in a collaborative, positive work environment where project goals are fully understood, tracked, measured, and ultimately achieved.

Outside of work, Michelle keeps busy with her husband and one-year-old, playing volleyball at Alki Beach, exploring Washington’s national parks, and setting out on their canoe to catch small fish (her favorite spot is Banks Lake).

“I enjoy sketching, drawing things out, discovering details and working towards where we want to go as a team.”
