 Joseph Donan

Curious. Tactile. Technological. Elevating.

“A piece of paper is still a great form of communication. However, for some clients and some projects, utilizing technology and putting together that 3-D representation can feel a little more tangible.”

Joseph Donan joins KMB architects with the passion of a builder and the curiosity of a designer. Before joining the firm, Joseph had the opportunity to work at a local casework manufacturer while pursuing his degree. Always an avid drawer of plans and builder of models, in this new position Joseph was able to gain valuable experience in applying drafting towards tangible projects and reviewing documents to produce accurate estimates. In his time at KMB architects, Joseph has continued to grow and evolve his skill set, supporting a wide range of project types and embracing any challenge thrown his way.

“It’s rewarding for me to find a problem early and address it immediately, even if it’s in the very early stages. That’s what I’ve always admired about drafting – that it’s a great brainstorming platform, essentially, where you can think through every step of the process.”

Always interested in new tools and innovations, Joseph offers our team an in-depth understanding of emerging technology such as 3-D printing and laser cutting, which both offer valuable new ways of showcasing ideas to clients and articulating the vision of the firm.

Eager to develop new expertise and to learn about all facets of architectural practice, Joseph cites the Deschutes Courthouse as a rewarding early highlight of his career, one where he was able to get involved early and often, tracking the project’s evolution from beginning to end. Joseph is currently working towards his goal of becoming a practicing architect by obtaining the necessary work experience in a variety of professional categories as required before completing licensure examinations.
