KMB architects is seeking to add an Intern Architect to work interactively with other design professionals and clients in a supportive team environment on a broad range of projects. Our work requires high-performing designers who possess strong communication skills and graphic abilities, as well as a good understanding of the technical aspect of architecture.

This position is intended to be 40 hours per week during summer break and requires in office work at our Olympia office location.

KMB architects is seeking an Intern Architect to work independently or in a team.  Candidates will be innovative, creative, and critical thinkers who aspires to the highest standards of excellence.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare architectural plans, sections, elevations, details, and 3D models; develop design concepts and mock-ups.

  • Research building codes, zoning ordinances, and materials; assist with construction documents and specifications.

  • Participate in team and client meetings, coordinate with consultants, and assist with project scheduling and documentation.

  • Attend site visits to observe construction progress and ensure adherence to plans.

  • Organize project files, prepare reports, and assist with submittals and RFI responses during construction.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in or graduation from a NAAB-accredited architecture program (B.Arch or M.Arch).

  • Junior and Senior year students preferred.

  • Proficiency in architectural software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).

  • Strong interest in design, detail orientation, and problem-solving.

  • Good communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type:                      40 hours/week during summer break

Pay:                              $24-30 per hour

Physical setting:            Office (This intern position is required to be in office and on various job sites.)

Schedule:                      Monday to Friday

Education:                    Enrollment in or graduation from a NAAB-accredited architecture program (B.Arch or M.Arch)
