“I think to truly understand how to improve ourselves, we must look at everything from the perspective of others and always question why we do things the way that we do.”

Meet the Team | Bryan

Bryan brings an enthusiastic energy to all his endeavors, and he is 110% convinced that architecture is his life’s calling. Growing up in Germany as the son of a civil engineer for the U.S. Army, Bryan traveled to many parts of Europe and was introduced to the vast world of architecture. When it came time for college, Bryan had to decide if he would follow in his dad’s footsteps or explore a different direction. Because of his love for the built environment and ‘the bigger picture’, Bryan chose to pursue a path towards becoming an architect.

Joining KMB architects fresh out of college, Bryan found no task was too daunting. He was asked to assist in multiple tasks within different phases of each project and within different sectors of the firm. His ability to quickly learn new skills and manage complex tasks has been essential in his professional development.

Bryan describes himself as a pragmatic designer who believes that a strong start, built on the foundation of a solid program and a clear understanding of the functional adjacencies is the key to a successful design process. He frequently finds himself circling back to schematic bubble diagrams to ensure that the developed floor plan does not sacrifice any key element identified in the original idea.

“Using the right tools to solve problems – I love that part of the design process… I’m always exploring how different tools can be integrated into both the design process and project management.”

Bryan took his promotion to associate as an opportunity to become even more involved in KMB architects’ positive office culture. He facilitates the monthly “Pulse of the Office” all-staff meeting for sharing updates on new project wins, birthdays, and other news. At the end of each meeting, every staff member has an opportunity to share some good news – something personal about themselves to connect with the team more deeply.

Outside of architecture, Bryan enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and sports. While studying in the Philippines, he shared his love for “American” football by helping lead the Tiger University Flag Football Club and taught the foreign sport to other interested students. Today, one might find him ascending a wall at a rock climbing gym, exploring a new city, or one of the Pacific Northwest’s scenic trails with a camera by his side. Fascinated with product design, ingenuity, and functionality, he’s also always researching for the newest and greatest photography accessories and acquiring the best backpacks and climbing gear.
