“Aesthetics are important, but they don’t mean much if your project doesn’t serve the community, or isn’t successful on the site. You want things to be beautiful, but they have to be beautiful for that specific environment.”

Meet the Team | Amanda

Amanda was drawn to design from a young age, with a clarity that eventually culminated in an accelerated Master’s program and a growing career in architecture. Born and raised in Hawaii, Amanda draws inspiration from nature and the surrounding landscape to bring focus to design elements that others may overlook such as lighting, interior views, scenery, site context, as well as the culture and practices of local and native communities.

While skilled at the artistic aspect of architecture, using her creativity to produce renderings, illustrate concepts, and pour over details, Amanda is equally accomplished in the process of design. She manages teams and coordinates project needs from engineering, to proper sequencing, to meticulous construction document production, all while nurturing productive and positive client relationships.

Eager to learn and experience all facets of professional design, Amanda never turns down an opportunity to broaden her role at KMB architects. Her thorough approach and big picture thinking, combined with an unrelenting attention-to-detail, gives Amanda a diverse and valuable set of skills that benefit both our firm as well as our clients.

Outside of work, Amanda can usually be found at home gardening and spending time with her husband and pets (two dogs and a cat). She likes to be outdoors as much as possible, setting out on hikes and exploring the area’s many beaches and bodies of water.

“Interpreting what the client has to say in order to envision and present different design options, I think that’s where you get to have the most play.”
